Hi Shelby,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have a lot going for you, but your resume needs work so that it can does a better job of highlighting you. Anyway, here are a few suggestions of things that you can do to make this stronger. I would also suggest that you submit it to Career Services dropbox for review: https://www.west.asu.edu/career/dropbox/
1. Do not use I or my in your objective statement or anywhere on your resume
2. You never listed your concentration areas!!! A BIS in what- what is it that you studied??
3. You need to write clear action statements that highlight your transferable skills for all of your former positions. Don't just list count money, write a specific statement that says what you did.
Hope that this helps some, but would really also suggest that you visit career services.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will also visit career services. I have been searching for jobs and want my resume to be the best it can be. I know I am a good candidate for a job, but it is tough in a resume to show it. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteShelby,
ReplyDeleteAfter looking over your resume it does appear there are some marketing or management experience that you have. However, like Dr. Hirshorn mentioned it seems a bit hidden. It does show a lot of high academic marks that are very respectable. Hopefully your internship is helping you towards your goal in marketing. Or your internship is giving you another avenue to work with after college. Working at an educational setting could lead you to a position in the business department at high school. You could even do both in a lifetime of careers. I wish you good luck with your internship and hope all is well.
You internship seems interesting and something you are very passionate about. I teach dance, so I know how you feel about teaching. It's such a great feeling knowing you're educating your students. I enjoyed reading your resume, you have some experience in managing. That's awesome you are the only female manager in ten years...GO GIRL! It looks as if you are set on what you would like to do in the future, and I wish you the best of luck with everything ahead of you.
